Click on the link to read Jill's latest blog post. Jill has been running FoodPath in the Southern Highlands of NSW with her partner Nick since April 2010. They have grown the business to a level where they now include a range of activities including tours, workshops and collaboration with others (cooking schools, wineries, etc). During the past 10 years Jill and Nick have got to know the local producers and continue to promote and support these local small businesses. They have organised and run many food related activities including taste education workshops and producer visits. It was after they organised a successful tour for a group of chefs from some of the best restaurants in Sydney that they realised they could turn their interest into a business - and this led to the setting up of FoodPath - Culinary Tours with a Difference. Now Jill and Nick are working closely with Southern Highlands Tourism and Wingecarribee Council to help raise the profile of their area as a food destination where everyone will benefit - tourists, local consumers and the producers themselves.

About Us...

Nick Padol, Southern Highlands, NSW, Australia.

Nick with his partner Jill has been running their business FoodPath in the Southern Highlands since April 2010. His motivation was to share his knowledge by taking others on a journey to discover local and regional food.

At the age of 4 when Nick had his first taste of coffee with his father at Andronicus’ Coffee Shop in Sydney he developed an interest in all things gastronomic. At the age of 24 his father gave him his 1st copy of Larousse Gastronomique. He now has an extensive library of cook books and he hasn’t looked back.

Not only is Nick an excellent cook and host with an interest in the cuisine of many cultures but he is also a food writer and cheese and coffee judge. He has been involved in regional food and wine related projects over the years and was an active member of Slow Food for 9 years.

We were so proud of our local producers last Sat when we put on a showcase for a bunch of Travel Writers.
Tourism Southern Highlands asked Southern Highlands Food and Wine Association to help with this
and of course we need the producers to come along. Thanks to all those who did and thanks to Tertini Wines for hosting this event.

See the great photos - and come along one day on a FoodPath tour to meet the people behind the food we grow in the Highlands.

Luigi de Luca is coming to the Southern Highlands to run a Gelato Workshop for FoodPath!
We are very excited.
Luigi comes from a family of artisan gelato makers and used to have a gelateria in Norton Street, Leichhardt.

We went to the launch of his prickly pear granita a couple of years ago - that was something special!

Luigi has run a workshop for us before and it is very interesting.
Come and learn some new skills that you can use again at your leisure and enjoy with your family.

Date: Sat 31 Mar. Time: 2 - 4.30pm.
Venue: Howards Lane vineyard out of Mittagong.
Price: $66

Bookings are already coming in so contact us from the website, email info@foodpath.com.au or ring Jill on 0419 617 021 and we will send you a booking form. Don't miss out, it will be fun!

During the first week of March 2012 there is to be the first of an annual Australian Highlands Wine Show and this will be followed on the weekend (3-4 Mar) by a Wine and Food festival. To be eligible the wine has to come from wineries and regions of a certain altitude (such as our cool climate wine), but this is a National competition so it will come from all over Australia.
The venue is to be the Bong Bong race course which is a great venue for such an event.
The Southern Highlands Wine and Food Association has initiated this event and there is much planning and excitement as we all prepare. There will be lots of stalls and a festive atmosphere.
Buskers will play throughout the day and local producers and others will display and sell their wares. A new local cider will be launched and tastings will be available.
Some of our best chefs will be there with food for sale in a covered lunch area where you can relax and enjoy live jazz. It will indeed be a festive occasion and you must come along!

There will also be a program of food related talks and cooking demonstrations in a marquee - something for everyone.
This is a great opportunity for us to show case the Southern Highlands food and wine and for you, our visitors to experience what we have to offer!
Tickets are available now from the website (just search for "Australian Highlands Wine Show" in your search engine) @ $10 each day.
On Fri 2 Mar there will be a Wine Presentation Dinner at the Mittagong RSL. This will be a grand affair - black tie, $95 pp, 3 course meal, wine from the Wine Show. Tickets available now from the website or the RSL. For more information go to www.highlandswineshow.com.au or www.southernhighlandsfoodandwine.com.au
See you there!
